An academy that will offer an unbiased and impartial approach to providing education and training.. Yes, that’s what VP Academy is. In the last issue of VisionPlus we explained the benefits of VP Academy. Let’s talk about what those who register for the programs would be learning.

The program one has been provided by our Knowledge Partner, Lotus College of Optometry and formulated by our Key Opinion Leader, Ms Prema Chande, Principal of Lotus College of Optometry. On successfully completing this course, the practitioner will have a better understanding and capability to meet the needs and expectations of one of the most important target segments in vision care today, the High Networth Individual (HNI).

What will the course cover?

  • Various designer eyewear options, how to promote and dispense branded and designer eyewear to suit the various needs of HNI clients.
  • How to choose the right combination of lens design, material and enhancement for the given prescription and frame type.
  • How to select the right silicone hydrogel contact lens design and modality for a given prescription.

VP Academy aims at enhancing your knowledge at every front. Hence, the courses are divided into three sections:

Ophthalmic Lenses

On completion of the course, practitioner will have an understanding of choosing the right combination of lens design, material and enhancement for the given prescription and frame type. Also to factor for all aspects and needs of an HNI customer before recommending the most suitable ophthalmic lens to address all needs.

  1. Types of  Customized Progressive Lens Designs
    This will enlist various types of progressive lens designs with its various features and benefits. Particularly addressing specific needs of HNI individuals.
  2. Dispensing of Customized progressive lenses
    This course will explain in detail, how to choose the correct design for a given prescription, factoring for various needs, including hobbies, professional and social life.
  3. Special lens enhancements – Blue light protection, Polarization, Photo Chromatics, When and for whom
    Will will cover features and benefits of various lens enhancements and how they can fit in professional and social lives of HNI customers.
  4. Indication and dispensing of Hi-index and polycarbonate single vision lenses
    This course will cover features and benefits of various lens materials and how they work better in the frame of choice and address the professional and social lives of HNI customers.

Contact Lenses

On completion of the course, practitioner will have an understanding of how to  choose the right silicone hydrogel contact lens design and modality for a given prescription. Also to factor for all aspects and needs of an HNI customer before recommending the lenses to address social as well as professional needs.

  1. Silicone Hydrogel daily disposable lenses- For whom and why
    This will demonstrate benefits of daily disposable SiHy Lenses to HNI clients and how it fits in for occasional or full time use in their style. This can be done by developing multiple profiles of HNI customers and showing how SiHy fits in their lifestyle.
  2. Daily Disposable soft toric lens fitting and dispensing
    This will explain how to make the first time or repeat buyer’s wearing experience good, but doing the right preliminary evaluation, fitting and dispensing with good handling instructions for Soft toric daily disposable lenses.
  3. Daily Disposable multifocal lens fitting and dispensing
    This course will explain in detail, how to make the first time or repeat buyer’s wearing experience good, but doing the right preliminary evaluation, fitting and dispensing with good handling instructions for Soft multifocal daily disposable lenses. How to handle troubleshooting and discomfort with multifocals.

Spectacle Frames and Sunglasses

On completion of the course, practitioner will have an understanding of various designer eyewear options, how to promote and dispense branded and designer eyewear to suit the various needs of HNI clients. Practitioner will have an understanding of how to take frame and facial measurements while dispensing and ensure that all needs of the HNI customer are addressed.

Brands available in luxury segment for frames and sunglasses

This will enlist various brands of designer eyewear, its availability, features and marketing options for both spectacle frames and sunglasses. This is important along with brands to share the inspiration behind a collection for better marketing strategies.

Frame, Facial measurements and dispensing of luxury frames

This will explain frame materials and types of various designer eyewear and its dispensing techniques aspects like measurements and facial fitting aspects.

Dealing with a HNI customer and attaining his/her satisfaction on dispensing the frame/sunglass

Explains good history taking of lifestyle needs, social life and hobbies of HNI clients and to recommend eyewear of each or all of occasions based on lifestyle.

How to sell Luxury Frames and Sunglasses: Marketing Strategies

This topic explains sales techniques, Marketing tools, use of digital media, like demonstrating benefits on Ipads etc. Customer appreciation days, brand fashion shows. in optical stores etc. Basically for companies to share best practices used in the developed countries so practitioners can implement similar strategies in their stores.
