Propelled by strong market activity, the 50th anniversary edition of Silmo Paris captivated and stimulated optics and eyewear professionals

With an attendance of 957 exhibitors, Silmo Paris 2017 witnessed some major branch launches, diverse and creative collections, innovative products and an offering ideally suited to the demands of optics and eyewear industry. The exhibitors were representatives from 42 countries, that is, 78 percent of them were from abroad.
According to Amélie Morel, President of Silmo, the exhibitors and visitors seemed satisfied with their participation and enjoyed the festive atmosphere at the show for four days. The event was a success in strengthening the focus on business while consolidating its individual components, which is, information, trends, training, promotion and positive business environment.
The 50th anniversary edition had several new features that debuted this year, including the 50th anniversary gala evening with 3,000 guests. A daily jackpot offer on the ‘xtragame’ slot machine. The exhibition also had a gallery showcasing new optical and sunglasses collections for men, women and children. A display of 50 iconic eyewear frames that have embodied their company’s style. An overview of latest trends in the 19th edition of Trends by Silmo. A pop-up e-store bringing together an assortment of 50 everyday items, along with eyewear and technical optical equipment presented by exhibitors at the show.
Silmo D’Or Awards’ 24th Edition was the highlight of an exclusive event that simply rewards the optical industry’s originality and quality! Jasbir Bolar, Marketing Director, VisionPlus and Gulzaar Shah, Editing Director, VisionPlus were invited to be a part of the jury and vote for the nominated products!
All these features were complemented by the regular Silmo Paris meetings and exhibition spaces for Low Vision Forum, retail and digital trends and Silmo Academy, whose 8th edition was dedicated to the theme of dazzle, ‘Best Artisan in France’ initiation workshops, Inter-schools challenge etc.
Following the extraordinary tradition and new additions, Silmo is looking forward to be back in Paris, next year, from September 28, 2018 to October 1, 2018.
