Lectures on Smart Glasses and Augmented Reality proved to be quite popular among visitors during the three-day event
Where: Munich, Germany
When: January 9-11, 2015
25,850 trade and professional visitors started off the new fiscal year with Opti, which was held from January 9-11, 2015, at Munich, Germany. There, according to an independent visitor survey, they placed orders for products worth over € 178 million. However, the trade show was not only crucial for purchasing decisions, but visitors could also derive information on new products from 525 exhibitors, get a preview of the future of vision with ‘Smart Glasses’, and see the new ‘Walk of Frame’ over the course of the three days of the exhibition. The majority of the trade and professional visitors (88.3 per cent) came from the 27 nations of the European Union.
“Opti is characterised by creativity, reliability, stability, and continuous development, as well as healthy growth with respect to visitors and exhibitors. Above all, the basis of Opti is quality. This is only possible because the industry is 100 per cent behind its trade show in Munich,” explained Dieter Dohr, Chairman of the Management Board of the GHM Gesellschaft für Handwerksmessen mbH. “These advantages spread fast and the industry knows that the networking and contact opportunities provided by Opti are unparalleled. This is also evidenced by the large number of first-time visitors.”
According to surveys, in 2015 the trade show participants found the ‘comprehensiveness and breadth of offerings’ (91.2 per cent) and ‘presence of market leaders’ (90.8 per cent) to be the most meaningful in their personal evaluation of the trade show.
The Opti-Forum in Hall C2 was quite popular. 92.9 per cent of the visitors gave top marks to the variety and information content of the 34 lectures. Resonating particularly well with visitors were the lectures on ‘Smart Glasses’ and ‘Augmented Reality’, which flanked the trade show’s theme, ‘The Future of Vision’. Opti claims to be the first trade show for optics in Europe that presented the new visual revolution and its potential to opticians.
The next three Opti trade shows are already scheduled. Opti 2016 will be held from January 15th to 17th, 2016, Opti 2017 from January 27th to 29th, 2017, and Opti 2018 from January 12th to 14th, 2018.
