Police Eyewear announced Neymar Jr. as the global face of its brand for 2014.
As the world cup fever grips the UAE, news of Neymar Jr being the new brand Ambassador could not have come at a better time. The football crazed nation is set to witness an era of youth and sportsmanship with leading Italian eyewear brand Police signing Brazilian football player, Neymar Jr, as the new Global Brand Ambassador for the year 2014. The iconic football player will be filling the shoes of previous Police ambassadors such as Bruce Willis, George Clooney, David Beckham and Antonio Banderas.
“We are pleased to welcome Neymar Jr. to the Police family,” said Mr. Ennio De Rigo, President of De Rigo Vision Spa. “As a young, passionate and talented star in his field, he embodies the Police DNA like no other with his maverick style. We are extremely privileged to have partnered with him and through this association, we hope to build a stronger brand connect with our customers.”
Neymar da Silva Santos Junior, better known as Neymar Jr has recently exploded onto the international football scene. Boasting an impressive record of 27 goals in 46 games, his performances during Brazil’s triumphant Confederations Cup this summer saw him awarded the Golden Ball for the best player of the tournament. The forward will also be leading the line for his country at their home World Cup in June 2014, as they look to win the trophy for a record sixth time.
Commenting on the successful tie up with the brand, Neymar Jr said” It’s a pleasure and an honour for me to become the new global ambassador for Police. I am very excited about this venture, as I am a diehard fan of Police sunglasses and normally sport very similar styles. The photo-shoot went very well, I thoroughly enjoyed posing in Police sunnies. Here’s hoping for a nice and successful run with the business.”
With the UAE being a fashion savvy and football crazy region, the tie up of an iconic lifestyle brand like Police with the football star will contribute greatly in bolstering the brand’s affinity in the region. Already the most talked about sports personality, in lieu of the Champions league and upcoming World cup in 2014, Neymar Jr’s partnership with Police marks the collaboration of two of the biggest icons of the season.
Mr M.S. Reddy, General Manager of Derivision, the leading distributor of Police in the region commented, “We are very proud of this new and exciting collaboration of Police with Neymar Jr. Football as a sport is watched religiously by people in this region and signing up a recognizable footballer like Neymar Jr. promises enormous potential for the brand. This collaboration will certainly boost sales revenue for the brand in the region as it will position Police not just as an eyewear but also a lifestyle brand. Additionally it will also initiate connect of the brand with football fans across the region.”
The creative campaigns for the new brand ambassador is shot by world renowned photographer, Rankin, which will showcase Neymar Jr. modelling several sunglass models from Polices’ 2014 eyewear collection.
