Welcome The Jury Member For ZEISS ‘YOU&EYE’ AWARDS 2017: Prema Chande

Ms Prema Chande of Lotus College has been chosen to be a jury member of ZEISS YOU&EYE AWARDS 2017, to be held on 18th November, 2017 in the capital! Every year, the jury members play a vital role in the decision making of winners for the category of Best Clinical Support. It is only fair to say that there is no better judge for this important award than the one we have chosen

Ms Prema Chande, has completed her graduation from Sankara Nethralaya’s Elite School Of Optometry in the year 1992, following which she has worked in the Apollo Hospital in Chennai and Adityajyot Eye Hospital, Mumbai. She is now heading Lotus College Of Optometry since 16 years in Juhu, Mumbai. She happens to be a Master’s degree in Optometry followed by fellowships in contact lenses from the IACLE and British Contact Lens Association.

Apart from these tremendous achievements, Ms Prema has been a huge support with VisionPlus since the foundation of VisionPlus Awards. She won the award for Best Optometry CSR Initiative in the year 2014 for the ‘Mumbai Eye Care Campaign’, that reached the poorest of people. Noble, wise and experiences: three things a judge should better be. Says Prema Chande, “I am looking for better things ahead and many thanks to Mr Bolar for his support. I believe greater things are going to happen with the support from the Optometry industry.”

But her achievements don’t seem to last just here, she has recently  won the Xova- Excellence In Ophthalmology Vision Award, 2017. When she happened to mention it to our team at VisionPlus, she was modest enough to not mention the fact that it is her great work that has led to win a grant among 136 participants. This grant empowers eye care specialists to transform the community that is less fortunate. She has also been awarded as the Competent Educator Of The Year 2016.

According to her, “The one thing that I would like to see changing in the next five years is the quality of eye care services. In terms of eyewear, we are at par with the world. However, we are lagging behind in case of diagnostic services. If we improve that, we can raise the quality of service considerably.”

Blindness and Vision impairment remains a major public health issue not only in rural but also in urban areas. Now as we have always mentioned, these awards are only conducted to recognise the efforts of eyewear practitioners, retailers and the industry, over all. We know every one has been working hard to benefit the community and it is time to reward them.

There is no doubt, Ms Prema Chande has her own goals and aims, and when it comes to recognising the same ideals as hers for Clinical Support, she sure has an eye. “My favourite category is the Clinical Support section. It would be interesting to see the entries that come in this category,” she says.

We are happy to collaborate with Ms Prema for the decision making of the Clinical Support. The award will be decided on the basis of the equipments an optical retailer is facilitating his services with as well as his/her talented team. We believe manpower has the ability to change the world, make it better. Don’t you?

Hello Mr Meerza, there are 5 jury members that decide the winner, collaboratively. However, please note that it is only the category of Clinical Support that gets jury votes, other categories are voted by the consumers.
