Visitors to the tournament got a glimpse of the different sunglasses offered by Maui Jim
Maui Jim, a popular polarized sunglass maker, is the exclusive eyewear partner of the 2015 Omega Dubai Desert Classic and continues its strong association with the tournament.
John Romaine, Maui Jim’s Senior Director of Global Golf commented, “Maui Jim has always been favoured within the golfing circles, being voted the number one golfing sunglass brand in the US.” Maui Jim’s superior lens technology which provides excellent colour, clarity and detail; optional coloured lenses for varying light conditions; and easy to wear, comfortable frames make the brand desired by major golfers and preferred during tournaments for its visual acuity. “Wearing sunglasses doesn’t make you play better, but it makes you see better, which in turn should help you play better,” added Romaine.
Maui Jim will have a customised Aloha themed booth on the 18th hole where golf lovers and guests can experience Maui Jim’s Polarized Plus2 lens technology. At the booth, Maui Jim will offer visitors the chance to browse and test the varied designs and health offerings to choose the sunglasses that best suit their everyday activities and protect their eyes from the harsh Middle Eastern sun. The Emirates Golf Club features hundreds of indigenous species of flora and fauna complemented by picturesque fairway lakes, providing the perfect backdrop and scenery to fully experience the wonders of the brand’s innovative lens technology.
Ernie Els, the three time champion of Omega Dubai Desert Classic has been a loyal customer of Maui Jim sunglasses and is the brand’s ambassador at the 26th Omega Dubai Desert Classic. Ernie stated, “I am proud to be part of the Maui Jim family and represent the brand as its ambassador at the Desert Classic tournament. This is a world-class product and I had bought several pairs of their great sunglasses long before I became a Maui Jim ambassador. My association with this great company extends beyond golf by raising funds for my charity, Els for Autism, which is a cause very close to my heart.” Maui Jim is also a keen supporter and devotee of other of its golf ambassador charities such as the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation and Golf for Africa.
This year, the renowned golf tournament will devote one day of the seven-day event to breast cancer awareness. On Friday January 30th, the Emirates Golf Club will witness a ‘pink takeover’ where all the Pro-Ams (professional–amateurs) and the partner brands will wear pink as well as garnish the golf course with pink ornaments, the official colour for breast cancer awareness. Moreover, spectators are also encouraged to back up the cause and wear pink.
John Romaine added, “We are pleased to announce our partnership with the Omega Dubai Desert Classic and especially honoured to salute a great institution, the Breast Cancer Foundation. The awareness generated from this tournament will hopefully make a substantial difference in the lives of many, and we are thrilled that we will be able to help and be part of this programme.”
